Project Grill Unveiling

More than 70 high school students unveiled their specially created grills at Project Grill in Fond du Lac Friday. They teamed up with area manufacturers incorporating elements of those companies into their grill’s design. Jamie Cleland of Manowske Welding says it’s a great way to promote the manufacturing industry in the area. He says it may also show the students an avenue to a future place of employment. This year Manowske teamed up with a group of students from Lomira High School. The winning grill belonged to a team from Laconia High School who partnered with Sadoff Iron & Metal. Laconia High School student Bailey Vande Slunt says they built their trailer out of scrap from Sadoff and used a 35 gallon drum to make the grill. He says everyone had a role in making the grill. That grill earned the Laconia team Best in Show and People’s Choice awards. (winners pictured above).
