Proposed Tax Exemption Could Help Broadband And Cell Phone Access Issues

State Senator Dan Feyen says the expansion of broadband is important for the residents and businesses in the state. He says there are areas of the state where Internet and cell phone access is still a problem. He says even in this area there are coverage gaps and when you get further north those gaps increase. He says people and businesses rely on the availability of Internet access. Feyen says there is a proposal in the Republican Senators’ version of the State Budget that would include a permanent sales tax exemption for broadcast equipment including towers that could resolve some broadband and cell phone access issues. He says right now all the equipment that goes up on towers is taxable and the proposed tax exemption would be part of the state budget.
