Pursuit Tops 120 MPH, One FDL Male In Custody

One person was taken into custody following an early Saturday morning pursuit in Fond du Lac County.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was in a pursuit of a vehicle, headed south on Lakeshore Drive, just before 1:45 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022.

A traffic was attempted at Lakeshore Dr. and Kinker Rd. in the Town of Friendship for a speed violation.

The driver of the vehicle tossed an item from the vehicle as the pursuit was underway, which was recovered and was suspected to be drug-related.

Deputies reported pursuit speeds as high as 120 mph.

According to KFIZ’s Breaking News Reporter Doug Raflik, the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate the T-intersection at Scott Street in the City of Fond du Lac and crashed in a small grove of trees.

The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year old male from Fond du Lac, attempted to leave the scene on foot and was apprehended immediately. The passenger in the vehicle, a 20-year old male from Fond du Lac, remained in the vehicle.

The driver was taken to St. Agnes Hospital and treated for minor injuries. He is facing a felony charge of fleeing an officer, multiple drug-related charges, a charge for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and traffic citations as a result of the pursuit.

The driver also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The occupant refused medical treatment at the scene and was released.

The pursuit covered about 4.5 miles, and the suspect vehicle is considered a total loss due to the crash.
