Quick Action Saves Bob’s Pizza From Closing
An official with the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership says she appreciates the quick response they had when Bob’s Pizza closed for business last week. Bob’s owner John Potter reached an agreement with Jeff and Steve Korneli to lease the business with a sale pending. Bob’s reopened for business last Friday. “We can’t thank the Kornelis enough for coming forward as quickly as they did and for doing the work behind the scenes that same day. It was just a great way to see the community coming out and pushing people to open, I mean we received over 20 calls that day for people who are interested in looking at the business.” Dusty Krikau of the DFP says they got a grateful call from Bob’s daughter too when it was announced Bob’s would stay open. She says, “We did receive some thanks from, Bob’s daughter gave us a call and said she just wanted to let the community know that she was really thankful for everything they had done to show support for Bob’s and we agree.” Robert Gerbing opened the business in 1969 and ran it for 48 years. Potter was an employee of the restaurant in the1970’s and purchased it in January of last year. Potter will work with new General Manager Ray Kautz and the Kornelis during the transition period. Potter will retire once the sale is final.
