Quitting Smoking Not An Easy Resolution
The program coordinator for the 5 Counties for Tobacco Free Living says if one of your New Year’s resolutions was quitting smoking you should have a plan and be persistent. Sandy Bernier speaks from experience when she says it isn’t easy to quit and it may take several efforts because it is an addiction. She says it takes courage, a plan, and a great deal of support. She says those trying to support the person that is quitting shouldn’t nag, scold or preach. She says they should ask that person what they can do to support effort. She says the Wisconsin Quit Line may be able to help. She says they will provide two weeks of free nicotine therapy replacement products with the blessing of your health care provider. You can find out more by calling 1-800-784-8669. Bernier says they also offer a lot of support at the Fond du Lac County Tobacco Control and Tobacco Free Living websites.
