Radon Test Kits Available In Fond du Lac County, Free With Food Pantry Donation

The Fond du Lac County Health Department is offering free short-term radon test kits throughout November to anyone who donates a nonperishable food item.

There is a limit of one kit per household. All donations will go to The Fondy Food Pantry.

The Fond du Lac County Health Department encourages residents to take advantage of this great opportunity to test your home for radon and help the community at the same time. Regular testing for radon in your home is an important way to protect family and your health. The only way to know if you have safe levels of radon inside your home is by testing.

Radon is an odorless, naturally occurring gas that is the nation’s second leading cause of lung cancer, accounting for roughly 21,000 deaths each year according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Radon gas is released from rock or soil and may enter into homes through the foundation, cracks in floors and walls, or gaps around service pipes. Mitigation options are available for homes with elevated radon levels.

The November free short-term radon test kit offer is redeemable Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fond du Lac County Health Department, 3rd Floor, 160 S Macy St in Fond du Lac.  Short Term Radon kits are available all year-round for $10.
