Rattlers Top Bandits

DAVENPORT, IA – Darrien Miller cracked a two-run home run and three Wisconsin Timber Rattlers pitchers combined to hold the Quad Cities River Bandits to one run on Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park.  Wisconsin would defeat the River Bandits 4-1.

Carlos Rodríguez, who joined the Timber Rattlers (53-46 overall, 17-17 second half) on Tuesday, was the starting pitcher and his Midwest League debut started out a little shaky with two walks, a strikeout, and another walk to load the bases with one out.  However, Rodríguez rebounded to strikeout the next two batters and keep the game scoreless.

Wisconsin grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Alex Hall and Arbert Cipion.

Quad Cities (37-62, 11-23) had another threat going against Rodríguez in the bottom of the fourth on consecutive singles to start the frame.  Rodríguez escaped the jam with a double play and a popout.  Rodríguez allowed three hits, walked three, and struck out seven over four scoreless innings in his first appearance with the Rattlers.

Miller doubled Wisconsin’s lead with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth.

Parker Bates got the River Bandits on the scoreboard with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the fifth off reliever Ryan Middendorf.

That was if for the scoring.

Middendorf pitched four innings, allowed three hits, walked none, and struck out six.  James Meeker worked a scoreless ninth for his eighth save of the season.  Meeker is 6-for-6 in save opportunities against Quad Cities in 2022.

The Timber Rattlers reached double digits in hits for the fourth game in a row.  They have 48 hits in the series.  Cipion had three hits in the game.  Warren, who scored on the homer by Miller, has crossed home plate seven times in the first four games of the series.

Wisconsin is also 18-4 in 22 games against the River Bandits this season.

Game four of the series is Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park.  Game time is 6:30pm.  The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM and internet audio starting at 6:10pm.  The game is also available on MiLB.tv for subscribers.
