Recount In FDL County Will Be Time Consuming

Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says it would take nearly all of the 13 days set aside for workers to complete a recount of the Presidential Election votes in the County if it were done by hand. Green Party candidate Jill Stein asked for the recount across Wisconsin and it is expected to get underway Thursday morning. There have been accusations the vote might have been hacked. Freiberg says the system in the County is pretty secure. She says it is not on the County server and is a stand-alone server in a locked and secure location. More than 52,000 ballots were cast in the Presidential Election in the County. Freiberg says she is worried about the reimbursement for the work that will be done for the recount. She says it is okay to question the system, but it will cost more than $1 million to do a recount in the state. The recount will be held at the City-County Government Center in Fond du Lac in rooms F and G. The state Elections Commission Monday refused an order that would force clerks to do the recount by hand.
