FOND DU LAC, WI – The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders swept the season series against the Kokomo Jackrabbits, as they won the series finale 13-6 at Kokomo Municipal Stadium on Thursday night.

The win was the sixth in a row for the Dock Spiders, their longest winning streak of the year. The win also improved the Dock Spiders record to 21-15, and a perfect 2-0 in the second half. The loss dropped the Jackrabbits to 10-27 on the year and 0-2 in the second half. The Dock Spiders scored at least 10 runs in their fifth straight game and their eighth straight with at least seven runs.

At the plate, three different Dock Spiders tallied a multi-hit game, including a career-tying four hit effort from Andrew Sojka (CSUN). Jackson Loftin (Oral Roberts) notched his first three-hit game of the summer and Nick Mitchell (Western Illinois) tallied his fifth multi-hit game in a row, a new season-high.

In the first inning, the Dock Spiders struck first with a sacrifice fly from Sojka, his first of four RBI on the night which tied his career-high. Fond du Lac then scored two in the third when Nick Mitchell (Western Illinois) tripled and Parker Noland (Vanderbilt) drove him in with a sacrifice fly. Mitchell would triple again in the fifth to start a run of four straight extra-base hits to plate four more runs for the Dock Spiders and extend the lead to 7-0.

Over the last four innings, both teams would score six times, with four from Kokomo in the sixth to cut the Dock Spiders lead to 7-4. Jack O’Dowd (Texas) capped off a three-run Dock Spiders seventh with a two-RBI single, his first two RBI of the year.

Sojka would then tally his fourth hit of the night with a triple in the eighth to drive home the final two runs of the Dock Spiders night and put the Dock Spiders back ahead by seven after Kokomo tallied three in the eighth.
