Reed Wins Calumet Co. Circuit Court Judge Seat

Attorney Carey Reed will be the newest Circuit Court Judge in Calumet County after winning the seat in Tuesday’s election.

Reed defeated Kimberly Tenerelli in the election Tuesday to win the seat. Tenerelli is Calumet County’s corporation counsel. Reed received 4,761 votes, or 56 percent, with Tenerelli getting 3,781 votes – or 44 percent.

The judgeship in Branch Two is a new position, created after it was announced in early 2020 that Calumet County was one of 12 counties in the state that was awarded a second circuit court judge.

County officials say there has been a 40-percent increase in criminal case filings in the county since 2015, with referrals for heroin and methamphetamine nearly tripling in that same time period.
