Registration For Back To School FDL Supplies Begins

Back to School FDL, a one-day shopping event for students who need help getting school supplies will be held Saturday August 20 at the Boys and Girls Club/YMCA on W. 2nd Street. Back to School FDL is a collaboration of local agencies, businesses, churches, and community members dedicated to making sure that any Fond du Lac student in need starts school with all needed school supplies.

 

Application forms can be picked up starting June 13 at four area agencies, and paperwork will be accepted through August 7. To qualify, call for an appointment to complete paperwork at one of the following locations: The Salvation Army, 237 Macy Street, 923-8220; Big Brothers Big Sisters, 448 S. Military Road, 922-8200; Family Resource Center, 104 S. Main Street, 923-4110; or Solutions Center, 39 N. Sophia Street, 923-1743.

 

Families need to provide a valid photo ID, proof of residence in the form of a current utility bill, rent receipt, as well as a government or W-2 document. A driver’s license/ID and proof of household income in the form of current pay stubs, bank statements or paperwork showing free or reduced lunch is also acceptable. Families who qualify will be assigned a specific time on August 20 for children to “shop” with a volunteer for free school supplies.

 

Donations to support the distribution of thousands of free school supplies to needy students can be mailed to Back to School FDL, P. O. Box 1747, Fond du Lac WI 54936-1747. All donors will receive a thank you and a statement that their donation is tax deductible.
