Republican Bills Would Create K-12 Curriculum On Guns

Wisconsin high schools could offer a class on guns under a bill being proposed by Republican state legislators.

Democratic Governor Tony Evers would almost certainly veto the bill. It would require the state Department of Public Instruction to create curriculum, including information on different types of guns and ammunition, firearm safety and safety devices, and how to load, unload and transport a gun.

School districts could opt out of offering the classes. Wisconsin Gun Owners is the only lobbying group supporting the bill, which is opposed by several school associations.
