Request To Postpone Brantner Murder Trial Denied

Fond du Lac County Judge Robert Wirtz has denied a request to postpone the murder trial of the 64-year-old Kenosha man suspected of killing Berit Beck in the summer of 1990. Dennis Brantner’s attorney asked for the delay to review evidence and files in the case. But the judge denied the request. The four-week jury trial is scheduled to start February 12th. The 18-year-old Sturtevant woman stopped in Fond du Lac in July of 1990 on her way to a seminar for work. Her van was found in a parking lot and six weeks later her body was discovered in a ditch outside of Waupun. Brantner’s fingerprints were found in the van. Brantner was tried last year for her murder, but the jury couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. Drugs were found on him when he was brought to the Fond du Lac County Jail after being charged with Beck’s murder. He is currently serving a 6 ½ year prison sentence for that.
