Request To Rename FDL County Facility After Kim Mooney

The Fond du Lac County Board this month will be asked to make an exception to the County’s policy about not naming County buildings and facilities after people who are living or dead. County Executive Al Buechel says there’s a request to name the transitional living facility for young adults after the late Kim Mooney, the County’s Social Services Director who died last July. He says the County has a strict policy against doing such things, but made an exception in 2006 for the UW-Fond du Lac. He says the transitional living facility is a house and it would be appropriate given Mooney’s involvement with the facility. He says the board will be asked to change the policy to restrict naming only on buildings generally served by the public, which would allow renaming the home after Mooney. The County Board meets next Tuesday, June 18th.
