Residents Reminded To Lock Cars Following Rash Of Thefts In Fond du Lac

City of Fond du Lac Police (FDLPD) are urging community members to lock and secure doors and windows on unattended vehicles.

The warning comes after the department fielded a number of complaints during a two-day period this week.

The calls began late Monday night into Tuesday morning (5/9-5/10), with residents reporting thefts from parked vehicles on the city’s west side near Sabish Middle School, as well as on the east side near SSM Health.

Initial complaints suggest approximately 15 – 20 vehicles were
involved, and the FDL Police Department said it’s too early to say if the east side and west side locations are connected or not.

FDLPD Officers and Detectives are actively investigating these crimes related to theft from a motor vehicle and criminal damage to property.

Chief Aaron Goldstein said, “This increase of crime is uncharacteristic of our community. We have resources devoted to investigate these crimes and to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.”

The FDLPD is seeking further assistance from the community. If you believe you have information related to these incidents, please contact Detective Nick Hahn at (920) 322-3721 [email protected] or the Crime Alert line at (920) 322-3740.

Callers can request to remain anonymous.

Residents are reminded to not only lock up vehicles, but also remove any valuables, or at the very least keep them hidden from view.
