Retlaw Hotel Opening Delayed

An opening set to be held at the renovated Retlaw Hotel next week has been delayed due to a few setbacks.

Principal-partner Steve Frantz says a water sprinkler pipe burst on the fifth floor, causing damage to drywall on the floors beneath it. An elevator in the building also reportedly caused delays, as it was discovered an elevator cab needed to be replaced. That installation is expected to be finished by late January.

The opening was originally set for next Wednesday, but now the plans are to open the hotel to the public next month. Some expect it to be open by about the third week in January.

Frantz and his partner, Dennis Doucette, predict the hotel will bring about 30,000 people to the Fond du Lac area each year. They also hope to keep the community as a focus of the hotel, offering social memberships to utilize most of their amenities.
