Ribbon Cutting And Time Capsule Opening For The Meadows Of FDL

The Meadows of Fond du Lac Friday held a ribbon cutting and opened a time capsule marking a new use for a former county-owned facility. The senior living facility sits on the site of the former Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, but it’s been revamped and is much different than the facility that the county closed in September of 2006. County Executive Al Buechel had the honor of going through the capsule that was in a cornerstone marked 1956, but wasn’t sealed until September of 1957. It contained a County Directory for that time period, pictures of the County officials at that time, coins, some county documents from the day including the annual report for the Highway Commission, and a Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter newspaper from September 11th 1957. The headline for that day was “2 Ripon Men Killed In Crash.”  Buechel says he actually knew quite a few of those County officials from back in the day. He says Meadows owner Tim Burns has found an ideal reuse for the building and he’s glad Burns was able to make the investment. Buechel says it was important for the community.
