Ripon Common Council Approves Street Paving Contract

The Ripon Common Council Monday night approved bids for six street projects. Specifically it is to pave Hillside, Fenton, Nordane, West, Kellogg and Gary Streets. City Administrator Lori Rich says they set aside $400,000 to do those streets this year. She says, “The bid came in less than we were anticipating so that was nice. There still is one more project that we need to bid out. We did get a grant, a matching grant for that project so we have to wait until after July 1st for that one.” She says normally they take about three years to do a reconstruction project, but this simply involves doing overlays. Northeast Asphalt was awarded the contract for the street work based on a bid of just over $271,000. The Council also approved a bid of $28,900 from Jim Fischer of Appleton for sidewalk maintenance. That too came under budget.
