Ripon Common Council Considers Street Issues

Ripon’s Common Council recently discussed two street issues arising from water crossings in the City. The City is considering how to repair the Jackson Street stream crossing. The City’s Engineer got a quote on what it would cost to repair it. Estimates put the repair at $40,000 to $50,000. Another option is to go with a Redi-Rock gravity wall, which will cost more, but will last much longer. It would be paid for with TIF monies. City Administrator Lori Rich says the Council is also considering what to do about Akin Street a short street that saw an increase in traffic when the Typert Street Bridge was closed. She says it was changed to a one-way street which has reduced traffic. A speed bump was also added to slow people down. The Council will revisit both issues in upcoming meetings.
