Ripon Common Council Resignation

The Ripon Common Council this week accepted the resignation of District 1 City Councilmember Todd Elliot. Elliot is moving out of the district. His resignation will take effect next Tuesday. City Administrator Lori Rich says they will post the opening for two weeks and at the Council’s September 12th meeting candidates for the appointment will be interviewed by the Council. The person the Council appoints in October will serve until next April when City residents will vote for candidates to fill the remaining two years of the term. She says because they have had three Council resignations in the past couple of years necessitated by people moving out of their City Council districts, Mayor Gary Will has asked the Council to consider making Council seats at large positions. She says if they did go to an at large representation on the Council it would not be implemented until the 2020 election at the earliest.
