Ripon Common Council Sticks With Two Meeting Format

The Ripon Common Council will keep holding two meetings a month. Alderman Aaron Becker had asked the Council to consider moving to a “Committee of the Whole” system still holding two meetings a month, but one of them would be a “Committee of the Whole” meeting. Becker felt their meetings were leaving the public “in the dark” on some issues. City Administrator Lori Rich says the Council decided to keep the meetings in their current structure. Rich points out if one of the meetings was a “Committee of the Whole” meeting it might slow down the approval process on some issues because no action can be taken during that type of meeting.
