Ripon Common Council Vacancy Filled

A vacancy representing District 1 on the Ripon Common Council was filled Tuesday night when the Council appointed John Splitt. His term starts on October 1st. Splitt was one of two people who applied for and interviewed for the seat that Todd Elliot resigned from when Elliot moved out of the district. Amanda Hughes was the other person who was interested in the vacancy. Splitt’s term will run from October 1st to next April. City Administrator Lori Rich says if he chooses to Splitt could run for one of the two District 1 seats on the Council during the April election. There will be a two-year term for the remainder of Elliot’s term on the Council and a regular four-year term.  About a year and half of Elliot’s four-year term is up.
