Ripon K9 Fundraising Goal Reached

The Ripon Police Department’s efforts to raise $85,000 in initial funds for a K9 reached its goal with a whole year to spear. Police Captain Bill Wallner broke the news to Common Council members Tuesday night. He says they began the effort last July anticipating they wouldn’t reach their goal until December of next year. He says contributions over the past six months have been both great and small and they will continue to raise funds to support the program. He says the money will cover the cost of purchasing the dog, equipment and training a handler. They hope to have the new police dog out on the road next summer.
