Ripon Man Arrested For Shooting Off Gun In The Street

Ripon Police arrested a 28-year-old Ripon man in the 100 block of Thorne Street Wednesday night for firing off a gun in the street. Police Chief Dave Lukoski says they got a report of shots being fired in the vicinity of Horicon Bank. At 6:14 p.m. a woman reported hearing three gun shots and saw a man with what appeared to a long gun mid-block on Thorne Street. Police set up a perimeter and the man came out of 117 Thorne Street and talked with them, but then ran back inside. An officer encountered the man at the rear of the residence and officers ordered him to put down his weapon, which he eventually did. He was then arrested. Officers recovered a semi-automatic assault style rifle. Officers did a sweep of the area and found no damage and all residents were safe in their homes. The man is facing charges of endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon while under the influence of an intoxicant, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, and disorderly conduct. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department and Town of Ripon Police also provided assistance at the scene.
