Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary Kicks Off Lights Of Love Program

The Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary, Inc. has festivities in motion for its 30th annual “Lights of Love” program, a living memorial or tribute to friends, relatives or dedicated citizens of the community.

A special lighting ceremony, which is open to the public, is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 14 at Ripon Medical Center, 845 Parkside Street. The public is invited to a brief program with holiday carols sung by a choir followed by the Lights of Love raffle drawing. Refreshments will be served.

A blue spruce tree at Ripon Medical Center – off the Journeys Commons – will display both white and colored lights, representing memorial and honorary remembrances respectively.

“Please join us for this celebratory evening,” according to Barb Miller, Ripon Medical Center Auxiliary president. “It’s a touching time, knowing we are honoring and remembering loved ones through cheerful lights, words and music. It’s a time of reflection and joy and, for many of us, it represents the love for all during the Christmas season.”

The lights are available for a suggested donation of $5 per designation, and proceeds from this year’s project will be used to purchase three patient transport chairs.

Lights of Love brochures, including donation forms, as well as acknowledgement cards, are available to share with friends and neighbors at the Ripon Medical Center information desk and gift shop.

The Lights of Love project also includes a raffle, which features a variety of gift baskets filled with items and gift certificates donated by area businesses with an average basket value of at least $335 each. Tickets are $5 each, three for $10, or 10 for $20. Tickets are available at the hospital’s information desk and gift shop.

Baskets are available for viewing in Ripon Medical Center Atrium (lobby). The winning entries will be drawn at the tree lighting ceremony; need not be present to win.
