Rodgers’ 4 TD’s lead Packers past Falcons

NFL:

Green Bay 30, Atlanta 16

–Aaron Rodgers threw for four touchdowns, three of them going to tight end Robert Tonyan, as the Packers cruised past the Falcons to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Packers started the scoring early, going up 7-0 on a six yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Aaron Jones with 10:01 left in the first quarter. After a short field goal from Falcons’ kicker Elliott Fry, Rodgers would connect with Tonyan twice in the final 2:28 of the first half – scoring on a 19 yard pass to make it 13-3, and an eight yard pass to make it 20-3 with under a minute to play before halftime.

Falcons’ running back Todd Gurley would find the end zone midway through the third quarter to make the score 20-9, but the Rodgers to Tonyan connection would strike again on the ensuing drive – this time for a 21 yard score to make it 27-9 in favor of Green Bay. Another touchdown run from Gurley for Atlanta and a Mason Crosby field goal late in the 4th quarter would create the final margin.
