Rosendale-Brandon Considers Year Round School For K-5

The Rosendale-Brandon School District is considering an option for students to battle the so-called “summer slide” or a fall off in learning. District Administrator Gary Hansen says next week the school board will discuss results of a parent survey that asked about whether they might support year round school for kindergartners through 5th graders. Students in the program would attend school the same number of days as other students, but their days would be spread out over the year. The new program would start in July and about 60 students have already signed up for it pending school board approval. The program would be held in one of the district’s elementary schools. Costs for the program will also be discussed at Monday’s meeting.
