School District Recommends New Sabish Middle School Principal

The Fond du Lac School District has announced that Kate O’Hara Pogorelec will be recommended to the Board of Education as the Principal for Sabish Middle School starting in the 2021-22 school year.

She was selected for the role after the District posted and
interviewed for the position. O’Hara Pogorelec has been serving as the Interim Principal for the school since July of 2020, stepping into the role while Stacey Buchholz transitioned to the Interim Director of Human Resources position.

Prior to that, O’Hara Pogorelec served as the Assistant Principal at Sabish Middle School since 2019.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the Interim Principal of Sabish Middle School during the 2020-2021 school year and I look forward to continuing to support our teachers, students and families of the Sabish community in the permanent role of Principal,” said O’Hara Pogorelec. “It is important to me that all families and students feel welcome and connected to our school community. Through strong family partnerships we can work together to help our students meet high expectations in and out of the classroom.”

O’Hara Pogorelec received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies from Butler University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Cardinal Stritch University. She earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh.
O’Hara Pogorelec began her educational career as a Special Education Teacher in Port Washington at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. She then served as a Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher
at Beaver Dam High School for three years.

In 2016, O’Hara Pogorelec joined the Fond du Lac School District where she taught students in Fond du Lac High School’s Self-Contained Special Education program and served as an Internal PBIS Coach.
