Salmonella Outbreak Linked To Fond du Lac County

A salmonella outbreak in Wisconsin has been linked to shelled peas sold at area farmers markets and farm stands.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Department of Agricultural Trade and Consumer Protection along with area local health departments are working to investigate the cases.

So far six people have reported becoming sick with three of them requiring hospitalization.

Investigation shows the strain of bacteria has come from shelled, or loose peas produced by Green Barn Farm Market of Ripon, and sold at Green Barn Farm Market farm stands and farmers markets in Ripon, Green Bay, Madison and Fond du Lac.

Anyone who purchased the shelled peas from Green Barn Market since July 1st is being advised to not eat them, and throw them away.

If you did eat any of the peas mentioned, and are experiencing any symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach pain, fever or vomiting, you should contact a doctor right away and advise them that you may have come in contact with the bacteria.
