School Back In Session Go Slow

School Resource Officers with the Fond du Lac Police Department are reminding parents and drivers to be on the look out for children in school zones as school returns. Officer Kristina Meilahn recommends getting to know the pick up and drop off policy at your child’s school. She says at the high school they have issues with parents dropping off students in the school bus lane. Students trying to cross the road in the bus lane also bring up concerns about student safety. Officer Steve Olson reminds drivers they are not allowed to do a U-turn in front of a school. Olson also urges drivers to go slow in a school zone, 15 miles an hour during school. He says even at 15 miles an hour it will take your car 26 feet to stop for a child that runs out in front of traffic.
