School Board Votes To Keep Mask Mandate In Place

Dozens of parents stood up Monday evening and gave passionate arguments on both sides of the masking mandate, but at the end of the conversation, the Fond du Lac School Board voted 5-2 to keep the current mask mandate in place, including graduation for the Fondy High Class of ’21.

School Board member Mark Henschel made a motion to keep the current masking guidelines in place until end of the day June 9th, and then allow graduates and attendees to the graduation ceremonies to have the option to decide if they wanted to wear the masks or not.

Henschel reminded the board that the graduation ceremony was going to be held with limited attendance, with each graduate allowed two guests.

Board member Rick Gedemer voted to support the motion, while board members Jones, Uselman, Strand, Tiefke and Jurgella voting against the motion. It is expected that the masking conversation will be taken up again this summer prior to the start of the 2021/2022 school year.
