School Crossing Guard Week Recognized

The Fond du Lac City Council recognized Adult School Crossing Guard Week with a proclamation this past week. Five residents who work as crossing guards were at the Council’s meeting to pick up a copy of a proclamation and be recognized for their commitment to the City’s school children. Each told brief stories about drivers who fail to slow down in school zones even when children are present. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein urged drivers to slow down in school crossing zones. He told the gathering, “If everybody can help do their part slow down in the school crossing zones and always obey the crossing guards. These people take a lot of near misses at times for people ignoring the stop signs. It is a great reminder for everybody to do their parts making sure they are slowing down and stopping for the crossing guards.”
