School Voucher Program Sees Growing Enrollment

Enrollment in Wisconsin’s
school voucher programs is going up. Taxpayers are expected to spend $302
million this year on vouchers to send students to private schools, which is $33
million more than last year. Much of that increase is among students living
outside Milwaukee and Racine

A total of 39,381 children received
vouchers to attend one of the 279 private schools that take part in the state’s
three choice programs. Enrollment in Milwaukee’s
program grew by 521 students, while their public school enrollment fell by 440.
