SCOTUS Sets Date for Dassey Debate

The US Supreme Court will discuss the Brendan Dassey case during a private conference next month. The justices will meet June 14th to talk about which cases they plan to review – including Dassey’s. He is currently serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County – in a case that garnered national attention following the release of the Netflix docu-series “Making a Murderer”. Dassey was sixteen at the time of the crime – and his attorneys argue his confession was coerced by investigators, alleging they make false promises if he told them about what happened. His conviction was overturned – but that decision has been appealed, keeping him behind bars.
