Security Upgrades at FDL City/County Government Center Go Into Effect Monday Morning

New building security measures for the Fond du Lac
City/County Government Center in Fond du Lac will go into effect effect on
Monday morning. According to a news release, beginning at 7:30 AM Monday, the
security checkpoint will go “live” and the only public access to the building
will be through the north entrance off of Second Street. The Fond du Lac County
Sheriff’s Office will have two or more security officers controlling the security
checkpoint and monitoring the entire building as part of the upgrades. The
public will be able to access the building using the checkpoint between 7:30 AM
and 5 PM, unless scheduled meetings require access to portions of the building
after-hours.

Visitors to the building can expect the checkpoint to have
equipment similar to that of an airport security checkpoint, including an x-ray
scanner and a walk-through metal detector. County officials are asking for the
public’s patience as the system is refined in the days and weeks after the
launch. Officials add the ultimate goal is to provide a safe workplace for
employees and a safe place for the public to conduct business.
