Sheriff Warns Residents About Dodge County Burglaries

Dodge County Sheriff’s officials are asking for the public’s help to identify those responsible for a series of daytime burglaries over the past two months. At least five burglaries have been reported in the northeastern part of the county since Friday, April 14th. The burglars have targeted older farm house style residences when no one was home. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says often the houses are isolated from other area houses or have trees or shrubs making them less visible from the roadway. He says the burglars are targeting items such as cash, jewelry or firearms. He recommends putting high value items in the home in a safe. He says installing security cameras or trail cams outside the home might catch the burglars if you are victimized. He says it might also be wise to get to know your neighbors and their vehicles. If you know anything about the crimes contact the Sheriff’s Department at 920-386-3726.
