Sheriff’s Deputies Pursue Reckless Driving Suspect For 45 Miles

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy was injured and two county patrol cars were damaged while deputies pursued a 37-year-old Appleton man through the County, Fond du Lac and into Dodge County last night. Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig says it began as a call from the Fox Valley Metro Police Department about an attempt to locate the man who was driving recklessly south on Highway 41 out of Winnebago County. He was believed to have a weapon. During the 45 mile pursuit the man slammed into a Sheriff’s squad car at County Highway B causing the car to roll over. The pursuit also went through the City of Fond du Lac and south on Highway 151. It ended on Oakwood Road when the suspected went around some outbuildings and a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy struck the suspect’s car. The suspect wasn’t injured. The deputy whose car rolled over was taken to St. Agnes Hospital. The 46-year-old deputy was treated and released. The suspect is facing eluding an officer and other charges. The chase began at about 7:30 p.m.
