Sheriffs Lieutenant Waldschmidt Attending FBI Academy

Fond du Lac County Assistant Jail Administrator Ryan Waldschmidt is participating in the FBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia this fall. Lieutenant Waldschmidt says he’s pleased to have an opportunity to do the 10 week physical and professional development program. He says connections he has formed with classmates have gotten him into places in Washington, D.C. the public isn’t usually allowed. He says a Secret Service Captain got them on the grounds of the White House. Wednesday included a visit to the National Law Enforcement Memorial. Waldschmidt says with the shooting deaths of Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz and State Trooper Trevor Casper there was special meaning to the visit. He says he was present during both of those incidents. Waldschmidt has been writing about his experiences during the academy and those posts are being featured on the Sheriff’s Facebook page. He says he appreciates the words of support people have posted there. He says he also appreciates the support of his fellow Sheriff’s officers and his wife, which allowed him to attend the academy. He will graduate from it on December 11th. Photos from Ryan Waldschmidt.
