Shooting At Beaver Dam Fleet Farm

A Fitchburg teen is facing attempted homicide charges after shooting an assistant manager at the Beaver Dam Fleet Farm Store who confronted him about shoplifting. The 31-year-old assistant manager was shot in his left wrist and shoulder Wednesday evening. Police say they got a call just before 5:30 p.m. about retail thefts. The assistant manager and another Fleet Farm employee followed the teen into the parking lot. He was suspected of taking ammunition. The teen got into a vehicle and fired the gun once striking the assistant manager. He was taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital and later transferred to the UW-Hospital in Madison with non-life threatening injuries. A second suspect, an 18-year-old Verona man, was taken into custody inside the store. He’s facing a charge of being party to the crime of attempted homicide. Other charges are expected to be filed against the two teens.
