Similac Formula Recall Announced, FDL County Health Department Offers Exchange

Residents in Fond du Lac County will be able to exchange baby formula this weekend, following an infant formula recall announced Friday.

In a press release issued Friday by the Fond du Lac County Health Department, Public Health Officer Kim Mueller said there is currently a recall on Similac powdered infant formula, the primary type Fond du Lac County WIC offers.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers not to use Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered infant formulas if:
 the first two digits of the code are 22 through 37 and
 the code on the container contains K8, SH, or Z2, and
 the expiration date is 4-1-2022 (APR 2022) or later.

To assist Fond du Lac County WIC families in exchanging their formula if needed over the weekend, the Fond du Lac County Health Department will be open:

Saturday, February 19th from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Sunday, February 20th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Fond du Lac County WIC Families affected by the recall can bring in their recalled formula to the Health Department to receive alternate formula to get through this immediate need.

Families should check the formula they have before coming in to the office using the Similac link, or by calling 1-800-986-8540.
