Simon To Retire June 30

After almost 33 years with the Fond du Lac School District, the 2021 school year will be the last for interim superintendent Ms. Sharon Simon.

In a press release issued Monday afternoon, Simon announced her intention to retire on June 30, 2021. “Over the past 32 and a half years it has been my privilege to serve as a teacher and an administrator in the Fond du Lac School District,” said Simon. “I am grateful for the many relationships with students, staff, and families that I have developed over the years.”

Simon has served in a variety of positions within the Fond du Lac School District including as a social studies teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of human resources and interim
superintendent, in addition to coaching many athletic teams.

“I am grateful to have spent my entire career in the Fond du Lac School District and have been afforded many opportunities,” said Simon. “During my career, I have seen many initiatives and changes in education and I am proud to have been a part of that work.”

With her retirement, Simon noted that she will be recommending Stacey Buchholz as the District’s next director of human resources to the Board of Education at their May 10, 2021, meeting. The Board recently selected Dr. Jeffrey Fleig to serve as its next superintendent, he will begin in that role on July 1, 2021. Simon added, “Dr. Fleig and I will be working together to ensure a smooth transition.”
