Sirens And Whistles

Tornado sirens sounded in Lomira Monday evening even though there was no danger of a tornado. Dodge County Emergency Management Director Amy Nehls (pictured) says the County was not at fault for that. She says it was a problem with the sirens. She says the County does set off sirens, but the municipalities own them. She says in this case the sirens went off due to an electrical problem or computer error. North Fond du Lac also had a noise problem that evening. Village Administrator Chuck Hornung says the whistle on a train in the train yard got stuck and blew for quite a while. He says it is a reminder of days gone by when the train whistles blew all the time going through the village, which slowed down considerably when they closed down the Lakeshore Drive crossing.
