Skimmer Suspects to Make Initial Appearances in Court

Two California men will make their initial appearances in court – suspected of forging and cloning 137 credit cards in Fond du Lac. 35-year old Catalin Adrian Capanu and 26-year old Mihai-Alexandru Preda are being held on $100,000 cash bonds. Officers found the cloned credit cards and about $7,500 cash in their vehicle after responding to reports of suspicious activity at a Marine Credit Union ATM. The Romanian immigrants claim they came to the area in a rental car and found the cards in the vehicle – and later admitted that a woman was in charge of their scheme. Both men face counts of resisting arrest and twenty counts of credit card forgery. Their preliminary hearings are both set for Friday.
