Small Fire At Quad Graphics

(Updated 11/22/13 5:25 a.m.)-A building at Quad Graphics was quickly evacuated during a fire and explosion at the Quad Graphics printing plant in Lomira Thursday. Dodge County Emergency Management Director Joe Meagher says the call came in at 11:14 a.m. for a fire in a paper recycling area. He says everyone was accounted for and there were no injuries. He says the fire was in Building #6 and the fire was knocked down quickly. As for the source of the fire and explosion it was likely from a forklift that was being used that caught on fire. Bundles of recycled paper were taken out of the building to make sure they wouldn’t smolder inside the building. Meagher says about eight fire departments responded to the blaze. Normal operations continued in the rest of the plant.  

No one was injured during an small fire at Quad Graphics in Lomira late this morning. Dodge County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Aaron Ellis says no one was in the building where the fire occurred when deputies and firefighters arrived. Claire Ho of Quad Graphics told KFIZ News that the fire occurred in a recycling room and it was quickly contained by fast acting employees and a sprinkler system in the building. Brownsville Fire Department took the lead on the fire that ignited from the explosion, but got assistance from multiple fire departments including Campbellsport, Eden, Mayville, Kekoskee and Theresa.
