Smoking Materials Cause Fire That Destroys House

On April 10th, 2023 at 2:44 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Communication Center received several 911 calls about a possible house fire at W5125 Valley Creek Road located in the Township of Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin.

As officers were responding to the fire they could see a large amount of smoke coming from the area.

By the time deputies arrived the house was fully engulfed and everyone was reported to be out of the house.

Preliminary investigation shows the fire started with improperly discarded smoking material. It is believed the high winds played a factor as the house fire started on the outside of the house and then spread to the inside. There were no injuries from the fire but the house is considered to be a total loss.

The Township of Fond du Lac Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the following fire departments; City of Fond du Lac Fire Department/Ambulance, Van Dyne Fire Department, Eldorado Fire Department, Calumet Fire Department, North Fond du Lac Fire Department, Lamartine Fire Department, Oakfield Fire Department, Brownsville Fire Department, Ripon Fire Department, and RIT Team 5. Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted with traffic control on Highway 45.
