SMSA Board Of Directors Names Norton Interim President

The St. Mary’s Springs Academy Board of Directors has announced that Kelly Norton, who is presently the SMSA Director of Advancement, has been selected to serve as Interim President and will begin in the role immediately. Norton’s selection as Interim President follows the recently announced departure of Kevin Shaw who accepted the presidency at Notre Dame Academy in Green Bay, WI.

“The Board of Directors has asked Kelly to serve in the role through the close of this academic year, at which time, next steps will be determined. She is absolutely qualified to lead SMSA,” stated Carol Hyland, President of the SMSA Board of Directors. “Kelly’s past experience in leadership and advancement along with her successes in her time at SMSA make her well suited to continue to move the System forward.” Hyland continued.

In her current role as Director of Advancement, Norton is responsible for overseeing the Second Century Campaign which has raised over $21 million for the construction of a new PK – 5th grade school on the current campus of SMSA High School along with extensive renovation of the high school to house 6th-12th grades. In addition, she oversees all advancement, enrollment and marketing activities.

“I am more than excited to be able to take on this role and continue the positive momentum that we have going. Our enrollment has grown exponentially, we are ready to break ground for new facilities and we have some of the best and brightest faculty you could ask for and that is only the beginning of the great things to come for SMSA,” stated Norton.

Norton received her Bachelor of Arts, Communications and Media Studies with an emphasis on Public Relations from the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse. Norton is experienced in Board cultivation and leadership, annual and endowed scholarship stewarding, capital and operational campaign management, scholarship support and alumni engagement.
