Snow Creates Havoc On Area Highways

Snow created an absolute mess on Highways across eastern Wisconsin yesterday.

41 southbound was closed at Highway B for 2 1/2 hours because of a crash with total lane blockage at Highway F in southern Fond du Lac County. A semi hauling vehicles
lost control in the northbound lanes of 41 and crashed through the median into the southbound lanes of traffic. One southbound vehicle went in the ditch to avoid the semi and another struck the truck.

In Washington County, 41 southbound was closed in multiple locations due to crashes. One of them was reported to have 30 vehicles involved, including 6 semis.
At least 3 injuries were reported in that crash.

41 in the Appleton area north to Green Bay had multiple crashes and Outagamie and
Brown Counties announced a tow ban until later in the evening.

Outagamie County had over 100 crashes and car in ditch reports and at one point had 25 separate incidences waiting for officers to free up to take care of them.

2 separate crashes on I-43 closed the interstate for a period of time in southern Ozaukee County and Milwaukee County.

Snow totals in the area ranged from 2-3 inches in the Fox Valley, to 4-5 around Fond du Lac and up to 9 inches in the Milwaukee area.
