Snowfall Means Being Prepared For Spring Floods

The FDL area received close to 8 inches of snow over the weekend, and while it’s a great addition to the landscape now, it also poses potential problems come Spring.

FDL County residents remember well the flooding events of 2019, and Bobbi Hicken from the FDL County Emergency Management office is reminding everyone that there are several things you can do now, to lessen the impact of flooding.

Hicken says having the right supplies on hand now, along with a proper evacuation plan, can go a long way in making sure you are ready in the event you are displaced due to floods. As homeowners know, an inch of water can result in thousands of dollars in damage. Make sure you take important documents out of the basement or store them off the ground in water-tight storage containers.
