Snowmobilers Put Sleds Into Lake Winnebago

Two men had to be treated for hypothermia after their snowmobiles went into open water on Lake Winnebago off Brighton Drive in Menasha yesterday. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Lori Seiler says it happened in the area of Buoy 100. Witnesses heard the men calling for help. The two were able to walk to shore about 300 yards from where they put their snowmobiles in. She says the 21-year-old Appleton man and 22-year-old Neenah man were suffering from hypothermia and were taken to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center for treatment. Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
