Social Security Scam Reported In Waupun

If it were true a Waupun resident would have a new ride and be $3.5 million richer courtesy of the Social Security Administration. Waupun Deputy Police Chief Scott Louden says a resident got a call late Wednesday morning from someone saying they were with the Social Security Administration. The caller said that person was going to receive a new car and $3.5 million. The caller went on to say they would be out in front of the home that afternoon with the new car and money, but there was a catch the resident had to send them a money order for $499 first. Louden says they do hear about these scams infrequently. He says if the caller asks for personal information or wants you to send them money it is almost certainly a scam. By the way the caller did not show up with the cash or car.
